"To see one's predicament clearly is a first step toward going beyond it." Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth. Awakening to Your Life's Purpose. I believe I referenced my love of Erckhart Tolle's A New Earth. If I haven't, I am certainly recommending it now. That particular quote was from the last full paragraph on page 131.
The chapter was speaking about ego and how, over time (many thousands of years), humans have been grooming and growing the ego. The ego is a very small part of our existence. Ego is thinking that thinking is the totality of who one is. Ego is responsible for wars, slavery, and other forms of madness that one day might wipe us all off the planet. Ego does not think beyond itself and its needs, which are insatiable and constant. Maybe that is what the 70,000 thoughts stem from (as mentioned in a previous blog). This is in itself an overwhelming concept.
Now we are developing and maturing as a species through a new thought process. We are actually experiencing the new found freedom of being transported to a place of peace, joy and contentment through tools such as meditation and mindfulness. We are beginning to understand and research the benefits of good qualities such as kindness, compassion, and truth. I believe that many people are joining to become the forces to usher in a new age of balancing the brain . Dr. Daniel Amen, Eckhart Tolle, Maya Angelou, Dr. Martin Luther King and others provide teaching and insights which create opportunities for us to turn the negativity that is so honored and worshiped into the positive aspects of life.
I clearly see it in the advent of Dr. Amen's evolution of psychiatry - from guessing to actually identifying what is happening in the brain, and transferring and translating this into a real diagnosis and plan for wellness. All the things that have recently been in the news regarding the results of concussions and their effect on an individual's thinking processes, the brain on drugs, and fragility of a child's brain, shine a very bright light on the new brain science. It is Dr. Amen that first sounded the alarm and developed the process to understand and deal with the effects of what is happening in the brain. How exciting to be on the cutting edge of the new direction of human development.
My clients enjoy this experience as well. The "ah ha" moments of self discovery changes the direction of their lives and, directly impacts the lives of their families and friends (and sometimes strangers).
Are you willing to see things differently, take responsibility for your actions, and transition to a better and more balanced brain? It is the freedom that Ekhard Tolle describes. Come join us!!!!
